Brew Branding

Project: Logos for Family of Brews

Purpose: Connect the historical story behind the name of each beer with a visual identity that could stand on its own while also establishing a brand for the collective family of brews.

Process: Through learning about the history of Topeka and the BNSF railway and taking inspiration from murals inside Iron Rail Brewing, I was able to create logos that helped tell a story for each beer, whether that was about the literal 3 sunken train engines that are still at the bottom of the Kansas River or the favorite vice, cigars, of Topeka’s founder Cyrus K. Holliday. I combined these visuals with a vintage color palette and differing typefaces for each brand which created individual visual identities for each brew while also connecting them together as a series that paid homage to the historical significance of the railroad within Topeka.
